Goods Flow at Pelindo 1 Soared 44.78 Percent

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Pelindo 1 (Persero) recorded the realization of goods loading and unloading volume up to 27,574,445 tons in the first semester of 2011, growing up to 44.78 percent compared to the same period last year of 19,045,910 tons.

"The realization of loading and unloading is significant due to the surge in the flow of export and import goods, such as cake, rubber, steel, fuel, sugar, wheat, bulk fertilizer and cement at Belawan, Dumai, Lhokseumawe and Gunung Sitoli ports," said Bambang Eka Cahyana, President Director of Pelindo 1, in a press release in Jakarta, Sunday (3/9/2017)

According to Bambang, through continuous improvement of service quality, the positive growth of ship traffic also followed by significant operational performance growth.

Until June 2017, the positive performance growth can be seen from the increase in ship traffic which reached 32,358 calls, an increase of 5.64 percent over the same period in 2016 as 30,630 calls.

The increase is equivalent to 70,985,837 Gross Ton, an increase of 11.93 percent compared to last year's achievement of 63,418,907 GT.

Currently, the waiting time (Waiting Time) at Belawan International Container Terminal (BICT) is only 1.45 hours / ship or can be reduced up to 44.44 percent, compared to the same period of 2016 which reached 2.61 hours / ship.

Along with the improved waiting time, the productivity of container loading and unloading at BICT can be boosted from 33.97 boxes per vessel per hour (B / S / H) to 47.86 B / S / H (Box / Ship / Hour), or increased by 40.89 percent.

To improve services and anticipate future business growth, Pelindo 1 is also building a Belawan Port container terminal for phase II of 350 meters which is currently progressing to 30 percent.

The progress of this container terminal renewal development is targeted to reach 50 percent by the end of 2017 and completed by 2018.

Meanwhile, the progress of the development of Kuala Tanjung Port phase I with a capacity of 500,000 TEUs conducted by Pelindo 1, has reached 80 percent.

The port of Kuala Tanjung which is projected to be the largest port and become an international hub in the western region of Indonesia will be developed gradually until 2023 and will have capacity up to 20 million TEUs.

Until the first half of 2017, the number of human resources Pelindo 1 as many as 1444 people, increased to 23.31 percent compared to the previous year amounted to 1,171 people.

"We are optimistic that with the addition of human resources strength will be able to improve the performance of Pelindo 1 to be better in the future and will be able to face the development of our business," said Bambang.
