INDUSTRY.co.id - Jayapura- Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono encourages students to recognize professional organizations by directing the Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT) of the Indonesian Hydraulic Engineering Experts Association (HATHI) in universities.
"This is the 34th anniversary of Hathi's scientific meeting so the PIT is held every year and where it moves in. Now it should not be held at the hotel, it should go to campus so that students can get to know the professional organization," he said in Jayapura on Saturday (9 / 9/2017)
He wants the future students to become experts in various professions and to be active in the process of regional development.
Basuki added that the policy on irrigation in Papua is quite complicated due to its topography and population problems.
"Actually, the potential of water in Papua is very big, the rainfall is highest in Indonesia, but if we want to develop the population at least so we just want to build like Baliem Dam, that is to support electricity," he said.
"In Papua the development of irrigation is small because the population is small and scattered," he continued.
While Chairman of the Committee PIT XXXIV HATHI, Yulianus Mambrasar mention participants of these activities from Sabang to Merauke about 600 people.
He explained in the event the experts will talk about the development of science, environment, hydrology, flood prevention and so on.
"The study discussed is a scientific study that has been produced and presented, so it is like a venue for the exchange of knowledge between centers and activism," he said.
According to the innovations generated in the meeting will be used as a comparison material to be applied in the work every day.
PIT XXXIV HATHI was held for two days since Saturday (9/9) .PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono and Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection Yohan Yambise became the main speakers in the event.
