INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura II said it will start operating the 'skytrain' or automated people mover system (APMS) of Soekarno-Hatta Airport on September 17.
President Director of AP II, Muhammad Awaluddin said for the initial phase, it will operate one lane with one route that is from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2. "Insya Allah 17 September we will operate one track and one route of destination from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2," he said in Jakarta, Tuesday (12/09/2017).
He explained, the series of skytrain that can be enjoyed for free can transport 176 passengers in one carriage. Later, after operating from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2 in the early stages, the skytrain circuit route will progress towards the integration building before continuing on to Terminal 1.
Still in its early stages, the skytrain will operate with the help of a machinist. "Until Terminal 1 will still use the driver because in the six month period of operation, the soonest it can be driverless (without crew machinist). There are considerations of safety and risk factors, we are speeding for November to be fully operational," he said.
The Skytrain is operated to accommodate passenger movement from one terminal to another. The first unmanned train facility claimed in Indonesia uses automated guided transit technology (AGT), meaning that this mode of transportation moves without the help of the driver.
