INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi wants the sea toll to be more coordinated so that the goal of suppressing price disparity in eastern Indonesia can be achieved.
"We had a meeting with the Coordinating Minister (Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan), discussing the sea toll to be more coordinated between the stakeholders," Budi said after the coordination meeting at the Coordinating Ministry of Home Affairs, Friday (15/09/2017)
The former President Director of Angkasa Pura II explained that the coordination was more improved to continue to encourage the optimization of the program.
"So we ask, say, SOEs to encourage their goods to be concentrated in the sea tolls, such as cement or rice, maybe we can 'reroute' (over route)," he said.
Budi previously said the operation of tolls reaching remote areas has an effect on the decline in the price of goods. In Kabupaten Rote Ndato, East Nusa Tenggara Province, for example, the decline in the price of goods reached up to 20 percent.
The Ministry of Transportation has built and developed a sea toll for sea freight transport which currently serves 13 routes and air tolls as integration of sea tolls for the purpose of distributing goods services to Papua's hinterlands and mountains to ensure the availability of goods and reduce the price disparity in areas of the region.
Sea toll operation aims to reach and distribute logistics to disadvantaged, remote, outlying and border areas.
