INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi supports Kertajati Airport in Majalengka Regency, West Java, becoming one of the logistics centers.
According to him, the location of Kertajati Airport is at an easily accessible point by the industrial estate. Its location is also supported by Port Patimban which will operate mid 2019.
"Obviously (will be a logistics center), he is close to the industry, good, especially because he is also close to Patimban," he said at the Coordinating Ministry of Home Affairs Jakarta, Friday (15/09/2017)
With these supporting factors, Budi said the government will provide support in the form of providing land for logistics center.
"We provide the land, let the 'market' (the market) itself will determine what they want to do there," he said.
Coordinating Minister for Marine Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan previously mentioned that Kertajati Airport will be the center of activities including logistics in West Java. It was delivered during a meeting at the House Budget Agency, Wednesday (13/9).
"Kertajati we want to make a 'logistic based' field. Why?, Because Kertajati is close to its position with Patimban, also toll road so it is a very good project," he said.
In addition to being a logistics center, Luhut also requested that Kertajati Airport can operate as a haj and umrah embarkation in 2018.
"Our target of Hajj next year is from there (Kertajati)," he said on Tuesday (12/9).
Operation of Kertajati Airport as the embarkation of Hajj is expected to reduce the burden of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Halim Perdana Kusuma which has been the mainstay of the embarkation of West Java hajj.
