Potential of National Food Industry Rp1.500 Trillion / Year

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- The economic potential of the national food industry is estimated to reach around Rp1,500 trillion per year, says food chemistry researcher from Wiratama Institute, Stessy Dwijuliandri Gultom.

"The food industry in Indonesia is one of the fastest growing industries, worth thousands of trillions of rupiah per year," Stessy said in a press release received in Jakarta on Saturday (23/09/2017)

According to her, the figure is projected from the growth of food industry turnover in Indonesia until the first half of 2017, which recorded reached up to Rp1.400 trillion.

He explained, in 2014 alone, the value of the food industry products reached Rp1 trillion, with the value of raw materials reached Rp628, 18 trillion.

The food industry, he continued, is dominated by small and medium business actors (UMKM) of 1.57 million businesses, employing 3.77 million workers.

"The gross income of this industry is Rp180 trillion per year, but if calculated by the total turnover created, it reaches thousands of trillions of rupiah per year," said Stessy.
