Direction of Vocational Education of RI Referring to German Dual System Concept

INDUSTRY.co.id - Bogor, the Government has set the direction of vocational education development to refer to the concept of dual system education from Germany, which is education that integrates learning on campus with industry work practices.
Therefore, the Ministry of Industry is focusing on launching an industrial vocational education program that links and matches between industry and SMK in all provinces in Indonesia. Until 2019, targeted as many as 355 industries able to engage and foster 1775 SMK in the implementation of the program.
"This step is a follow up of Presidential Instruction Number 9 Year 2016 on Revitalizing SMK," said
Minister of Industry, Airlangga Hartarto in Bogor (23/09/2017).
He added that in this program, every company is asked to foster at least five SMK around it so that in the year 2019 will produce as many as 845 thousand SMK graduates who are competent and certified in accordance with industry needs.
"We have launched industrial vocational education programs in the areas of East Java, Central Java and D.I.Yogyakarta and West Java," said Airlangga.
Furthermore, it will be implemented for the Northern Sumatera region, which includes D.I. Aceh, North Sumatera, West Sumatera, Riau and Riau Islands in early October 2017 in Medan, and forwarded to other regions in Indonesia. In East Java, Ministry of Industry involves 50 companies and 234 SMK, in Central Java as many as 117 companies and 392 SMK, and in West Java which was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo, involving 141 companies and 393 SMK.
As a follow-up to the launch of the program, the Ministry of Industry has conducted a curriculum alignment for 25 industry expertise competencies in East and Central Java, which have also prepared the learning module.
"Currently, curriculum and syllabus alignment has been prepared for nine other competency skills in SMK in West Java which are also being compiled learning module," said Minister Airlangga.
To support the implementation of the curriculum for harmonization with industry needs, Kemenperin also prepares training for productive subject teachers and proposes budget through Special Allocation Fund (DAK) for minimum machine and equipment assistance for SMK, which is allocated for 500 million per SMK.
