Minister of Industry Offers a Number of Industrial Zones to Attract Japanese Industrial Investment

"We hope that industries from Japan, such as those engaged in metal mineral processing, power plants, coal gasification, petrochemicals, and glass can invest in Indonesia in the locations of industrial estates that have been prepared," said Airlangga Hartarto through his written statement at Tokyo, Japan (9/7/2017).
The industrial estates are Dumai industrial area in Riau which has power plant with capacity of 50 MW, CPO terminal and waste treatment. This area can be used for the development of coal gasification industry and oleo chemical.
"We also offer JIPE industrial area in Gresik with a total area of 2,933 hectares and power plants of 23 MW and 500 MW supported." The area is equipped with residential areas and ports are driven as areas for heavy industry and machinery, "he explained.
Furthermore, Kendal Industrial Parks (KIK) in Central Java is 2,700 hectares, located near the port of Semarang. In this region will be built furniture industry, food industry and garment industry. "With competitive labor wage, the industrial area will have advantages over other regions," Airlangga said.
In addition, Airlangga also offers Bontang industrial estate in East Kalimantan. "This area will be developed for the coal gasification industry, supported by an area of 265.6 hectares, is currently being built oil and gas services industry in the region," said Menperin.
On the other hand, the minister wants Japan's existing industries in Indonesia to strengthen its supply chain so that it will help to overcome the problem of domestic raw material needs. Therefore, it is expected that there will be an increase of investment from those industries.
In the last six years, Japan's total investment in Indonesia reached USD 19.7 billion. The number of Japanese companies in Indonesia to date has reached more than 1,750 companies, in its business activities in manufacturing, infrastructure and services.
In 2016, Japan's investment value in Indonesia amounted to US $ 5.4 billion, up 86 percent over the previous year which reached USD 2.9 billion. "Some Japanese industries are quite active in investing in Indonesia, among others automotive, metal, machinery and electronics," he concluded
