Pelindo I and Pelindo III Cooperate to Serve Malacca Singapore Strait

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Pelindo I (Persero) and PT Pelindo III (Persero) synergize in the development of port service business, by conducting marketing of guidance services in the waters of the Straits of Malacca-Singapore Strait.
President Director of Pelindo I Bambang Eka Cahyana said the cooperation agreement aims to create a positive commitment and spirit in establishing business relationships in the development of port services business and other port-related services in exploiting the potential owned by both parties.
To realize the synergy in the development of port services business, Pelindo I and PT Pelindo Marine Services which is a subsidiary of Pelindo III work together to serve the advisory services in the waters of the Malacca Strait.
"This cooperation agreement is intended as a form of state-owned synergy in marketing and operational activities of scouting services in Malacca Strait and Singapore Strait," Bambang said in a written statement at the weekend.
This cooperation is to strengthen the synergy between BUMNs between Pelindo I and Pelindo III and its subsidiaries in accelerating national economic growth.
Pelindo I and Pelindo III share the same concept of port development, so that this cooperation is expected to optimize the potential owned by both parties in terms of service performance and human resources to face business development.
"As a partnership in Malacca Strait placement, Pelindo I has obtained an abundance of authority in the region, Pelindo III has also built a network, so its potential market coverage can be further enhanced if we synergize," he explained.
The same thing was also expressed by the President Director of Pelindo III, IG.N. Askhara Danadiputra. According to him, the cooperation between the two state-owned ports is a reflection of a good harmonization between the two sides.
"This is one of the achievements in realizing the SOEs roadmap with the synergy between BUMNs, I hope that in the future, such cooperation can be developed continuously such as shared service operation between the two, so as to improve the competitiveness of BUMNs both at national and international level and can decrease cost of national logistics, "he explained.
Therefore, Pelindo III is opening up and looking for opportunities to continue to cooperate with other SOEs.
Based on data from the Ministry of Transportation, in 2009 the number of vessels crossing this strait is 71,350, while in 2016 the number increased to 82,850 vessels.
