INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita believes the retail industry is still excited. That, he said, is at least visible in the financial statements of retail companies that show an increase in sales.
Therefore, Enggar said the government would not provide incentives. "What's more we love the incentive, the merchandise sold," he said.
According to Enggar, there is now a change in consumption patterns in the community. Many consumers are turning to online commerce platforms. If shopping in an offline store, consumers prefer to come directly to a special store that sells a particular brand, not to the department store.
"Debenhams closes, Sogo is closed, but Mitra Adi Perkasa (MAP) sales are up, profit up," said the Minister of Trade.
According to him, changes in consumption patterns and shopping style is a natural thing because the consumer market is currently dominated by the younger generation. Therefore, he believes the lid of some retail outlets is not related to the weakening of purchasing power.
