INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi considers that Tanjung Priok Port should be efficient to be a transit port or transhipment port as in Singapore.
"I think it's an ideal, a good wish, whose name is 'transshipment' that will happen will be new, it will only happen if it is efficient," Budi said in a discussion entitled "Realizing Transshipment Jakarta Port" in Jakarta, Tuesday (14 / 11/2017)
To achieve efficiency, he explained, should be created a cheap and easy tariff in the whole process, especially moving the ship (transhipment). "Cheap and not 'complicated' and baseball there are thugs," he said.
In addition, he continued, Harbor Tanjung Priok must serve seven days a week, currently known only five days a week.
it, according to him, makes the business actors switch to neighboring countries to deliver their goods.
"Saturday-Sunday was allowed to enter, but baseball there is a signature document, meaning that it can not get out, baseball 'cleared'," he told the media crew.
Related tariffs, Budi said it has coordinated with the Coordinating Ministry of Marine Affairs to evaluate the price set at the Port of Tanjung Priok is considered less competitive.
"We compare with the ports that become our competitors, if there are 10, here 20, down to 12 or 13, if it is the same good," he said.
Therefore, Budi proposed that the Port of Tanjung Priok be tested to undergo a complete overhaul, including the ranks of the leadership.
"Priok that we make an office where there is a new leader who does not have a port background, mostly replaced all of them. With the new sheet, we will receive inputs of various parties, what SOPs are problematic, anybody who is less cooperative," he said.
Budi invites all parties, whether Ministry of Transport itself, Directorate General of Customs and Excise Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Trade and Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) to jointly create efficient port.
As for the increase in volume, he urged all shipment of goods to be concentrated in Tanjung Priok to encourage the vessel to sail directly.
"The economic and time benefit will be enjoyed by our own players and ultimately people are convinced to make the industry in Indonesia. If we do not want to create a shorter price, investor confidence does not yet exist," he said.
However, he said that with the presence of France's Compagnie Maritime d'affretement - Compagnie Generali Maritime (CMA-CGM) cruise ship that once a week, gives signs of increased competitiveness.
Although, he hopes more than once a week plus the operation of RoRo ships for goods that have not run significantly.
Currently, Budi says the level of CMA-CGM is still around 50 percent.
However, in line with the development of Port Patimban, he hopes to stimulate the competitiveness of Tanjung Priok Port itself.
"If we provide a good service, with cheap price, short time with two ports will suck investment here, we live to arrange ourselves to be competitive, hopefully with this Patimban, Priok better understand there will be competition," he said.
