INDUSTRY.co.id - Singapore - Air Asia Airlines will bring in seven planes next year to increase operations both in Indonesia and overseas.
"We plan to add five planes next year, but there are still two planes this year that are delayed, so the total next year will be seven," Air Asia Group CEO Tony Fernandes said in Singapore on Thursday (16/11/2017)
Tony said Air Asia will fly the planes on potential routes, especially those carrying tourists, both domestic and international routes.
He expressed his interest to fly Labuan Bajo as one of potential destinations.
However, he said, it is not currently possible because the airport air side infrastructure is considered inadequate for Air Asia operated aircraft, Airbus A380 aircraft.
For international routes, currently it has flown Jakarta-Macau which was launched last August, then India and Japan.
"Everything is good, the level of completeness is all above 75 percent," he said as quoted by Antara.
Currently, the total aircraft owned by Air Asia Indonesia is 24 aircraft, Air Asia Indonesia 14 units Airbus A320-200, Air Asia X Indonesia two units Airbus A330-300 plus eight units Airbus A320-200.
As for the domestic routes operated by Air Asia, which are nine domestic routes, including Bandung-Denpasar, Jakarta-Denpasar, Jakarta-Yogyakarta, Jakarta-Surabaya, Denpasar-Yogyakarta, Kualanamu-Yogyakarta, Kualanamu-Palembang, Denpasar-Solo, Surabaya -Market and Kualanamu-Jakarta.
For international routes, there are currently 24 international routes operated by Air Asia Indonesia & Air Asia X Indonesia. Air Asia is also intensively digitizing on every line of aviation activity to create a fun and practical experience for passengers.
Currently the digitalization process begins with the support of Changi Airport, Singapore and other airports expected to be aired by AirAsia will also support the same vision because airlines and airports can not be separated.
