Indonesia Ranking 55 ICAO Flight Safety

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Directorate General of Civil Aviation Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) said Indonesia is ranked 55 out of 191 countries based on the results of flight safety audits conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization or ICAO.


Director General of Air Transportation of Kemenhub Agus Santoso stated that based on ICAO issued, flight safety in Indonesia is above the world average with the fulfillment of 81.15 percent.

"Of the 191 countries that are members of ICAO, Indonesia is now ranked 55th from the year before 2016 at position 151. The jump is incredible through 90 countries," said Agus in a discussion in Jakarta on Thursday (16/11/2017)

Agus explained that many efforts made by the regulator and operators in the aviation industry of Indonesia to boost the position of the year 2016 is ranked 151 with the value of compliance with safety standards only amounted to 51.61 percent.

With an achievement value of 81.15 percent in the audit of the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Program (USOAP), the safety of aviation in Indonesia is compliant, even exceeding the ICAO standard of 64.71 percent.

The USOAP audits eight components, namely Legislation (LEG), Organization (ORG), Personnel Licensing (PEL), Airworthiness (AIR), Operations (OPS), Air Navigation (ANS), Aircraft Investigation (AIG) and Aerodromes (AGA ).

Of the eight components, Agus said the highest value comes from Airworthiness or airworthiness reached 91 percent.

"Airworthiness is airworthiness, from airplanes, how technically suited to regulations ranging from design, operation to maintenance," he said.

He added that to maintain this achievement, cooperation and synergies from all operators and regulators are required to comply with the regulations.

On the same occasion, President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Muhammad Awaluddin said all airport operators must be disciplined in implementing the established regulations and meet the aspects of safety, security and comfort.

"A lot of the provisions relating to airport safety, the simplest example, the marker on the runway or in the apron, the landing lights on the runway are operating, it should be maintained and should not be problematic," he said.
