Silangit Airport Ready for Boeing 737 Aircraft

INDUSTRY.co.id - Silangit - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said Silangit airport is a pioneer airport with a runway of only 1,800 meters and has now been extended to 2,650 meters so that it can be landed by Boeing 737 type jet aircraft.

"It means that if we can accommodate wide-bodied airplanes then we will be able to campaign tourism to tourists Hong Kong, China, India and Taiwan to come here, either by regular aircraft or charter," said Minister of Transportation, Friday (24/11/2017 )

It is said that Silangit Airport with a capacity of 500,000 passengers per year is equipped with facilities CIQ (Custom, Immigration, Quaratine), "runway" or runway with a length of 2650 x 30 meters, and PCN that can accommodate the narrow-bodied Airbus A320 and Boeing 737-800 .

Silangit Airport also implements "smart airport" features with digital technology, including free Wi-Fi, bus and flight schedule displays, e-payment, bus ticketing machines, tourist information e-kiosks, self check-ins and features digital.

Various digital facilities can be used since October 28, 2017 or along with the flight route Singapore-Silangit PP, which is the first overseas route at Silangit International Airport served by Garuda Indonesia.

President Joko Widodo challenged the Minister of Transportation to extend the Silangit Airport runway from 2,650 meters to 3,000 meters by 2020.

"It means that before the year 2020 the extension of the runway to 3000 meters can be done," said President Jokowi.
