More Prospective, Mattel Indonesia Increases Toy Production 150 Million Pieces in 2018

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Mattel Indonesia is famous as a manufacturer that makes toys like barbie will increase the production of hot wheels which is estimated to reach 150 million pcs by 2018. That number increased from the previous production of 50 million pcs.
This production increase will be supported by skilled workforce graduates of Vocational Program of Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin).
PT Mattel Indonesia will be supplied as many as 250 workers coming from 5 Vocational High Schools in Cikarang, Bekasi.
Muhdori, Director of Textile, Leather, Footwear and Aneka Kemenperin Industries, said that toy business is a labor-intensive industry, PT Mattel Indonesia is expected to absorb almost 10,000 workers.
"The direction of the Minister of Industry [Airlangga Hartarto] that the toy industry is projected to cooperate with the Ministry of Industry's vocational program," said Muhdori, last weekend.
The ministry noted that investment in the large and medium-sized toy industry continued to grow in the third quarter of this year. As of the 93 companies have disbursed investment reached US $ 9.52 million in quarter III / 2017
According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, toy export value in the period January-October 2017 reached US $ 389.82 million or grew 13.07% compared to last year amounted to US $ 344.75 million.
Nevertheless, the value of toys imports during that period was quite large, reaching $ 293.84 million. That number rose by 49.74% compared to the January-October period last year of US $ 160.24.
Roy Tandean, Vice President of PT Matell Indonesia, said the toy business is still promising in the future. He added if the toy industry is a business that has a special segment with a lot of numbers.
"The barbie industry is still good right now, there are still a lot of kids who love toys," Roy said.
According to him, the market share of toys such as barbie and hot wheels in the world is still controlled by Mattel Inc. as much as 50%.
PT Mattel Indonesia is currently only targeting the export market, as much as 100% of products manufactured in Indonesia are sold to various continents such as America, Europe and Asia.
