INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The industrial sector has been proven to strategically play a role in economic growth, namely in terms of employment, community welfare and state revenues. The performance of the national industry also shows a fairly good developmental direction.
This was conveyed by Minister of Industry, Airlangga Hartarto in his speech at the Focus Group Discussion Building of Sustainable National Industry held by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
On that occasion, Minister of Industry gave appreciation on Kadin Indonesia initiative in organizing this FGD event.
"The results of this FGD can formulate policy recommendations that can support the government to build a sustainable national industry," Airlangga Hartarto said in Jakarta on Monday (27/11/2017).
He added that sustainable building industry is an industry development strategy that must be done jointly by the government and relevant stakeholders.
"Therefore, the government focuses on increasing value added through innovation, industrial technology development, development of production patterns and integrating national industry," he explained.
As is known, industry performance in the third quarter of 2017 returned on top of Indonesia's economic growth. Meanwhile, when referring to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the growth of non-oil and gas industry grew by 5.49 percent or higher than the economic growth which reached 5.06 percent in quarter III / 2017.
"In the next 5-10 years, the industry potential is also relied upon by other countries. Therefore, the key to success in industrialization are three main factors, namely human capital, capital or investment, and technology," Airlangga said.
According to him, the government strives to improve the competitiveness of national industries in order to be competitive at the global level. "To that end, various policies have been issued to facilitate investors in Indonesia," he said.
Furthermore, he said, the national industry now has the potential that can not be underestimated, because Indonesia is included in the major producing countries for some globalized product that has been worldwide.
"In the proportion of its economy, Indonesia can be categorized as an industrial country, because the industrial sector is the largest contributor to the national economy with its contribution reaching more than 20 percent," he concluded.
