INDUSTRY.co.id - Makassar - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia IV (Persero) plans to add a number of tools, mainly Container Crane (CC) and Chasis tools by 2018 to support loading and unloading activities in a number of managed ports.
This was stated by the President Director of PT Pelindo IV, Doso Agung on the sidelines of the 40th anniversary of PT Pelindo in Makassar, Sunday (3/12/2017)
He said the addition of the new equipment to some ports, especially in Makassar Port as a port barometer with loading and unloading activities that quite smoothly in Eastern Region of Indonesia (KTI), as well as in several other ports that are in the management of Pelindo IV.
"Currently in addition to the Port of Makassar, there are several ports under Pelindo IV which has become a busy port for loading and unloading activities, such as Pelolo Pantoloan, Fak-fak and Manokwari," said Doso.
This is in line with the recent video conference results that Pelindo IV is ready to evaluate the improvement of service in each branch. As well as knowing the problems of each branch and provide solutions to problems that occur to GM.
Among the issues raised are related to the cultivation of container cultivation in Manokwari Port which began solid as the Sea Tolerance and transhipment program.
Meanwhile, Farid Padang Director of Facilities and Equipment IV, Farid Padang as quoted by Antara, said that as the SOEs, the port operators have scheduled a number of new equipment investments, such as CC, chassis and forklifts that will be placed in some ports where the productivity of loading and unloading of goods is quite high.
"Next year we [Pelindo IV] will invest in new equipment, of course it [investment] to increase the productivity of loading and unloading of goods, so that the container accumulation is not too dense in some busy ports such as Makassar Port, Manokwari, Pantoloan and some other ports , "Farid said.
According to him, in order to transform conventional ports into container ports, superstructure is needed to increase productivity, mainly at Ternate, Sorong, Ambon, Pantoloan and Kendari Ports and Gorontalo and Manokwari Ports.
But added Doso Agung, the addition of the tool should also be followed by an inventory of the number of Human Resources (HR) available.
"In addition, it should be socialized about the tariff increase, following the socialization related to the multipurpose dock that will become Dry Bulk Terminal as the arrival of new tools later, especially for the Port of Fak-fak," said President Director of Pelindo IV.
