INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Darmin Nasution, said the government plans to select the priority industry sector by 2018.

"The government sees to boost economic growth to focus on some priority industry sectors," Darmin said in Jakarta (22/12/2017).

He added that the government has been pushing for hundreds of sectors to move forward. In fact, should not all the sectors get the same attention.

"The government only needs to encourage some sectors to boost economic growth, we will choose the priority," he explained.

Different positions, Director General of Metals, Machinery, Transportation and Electronics (Ilmate) Industries of the Ministry of Industry, Harjanto, said that the government's encouragement to all industry sectors can actually make the current resources become exhausted.

"As a result, the ability of the government to be able to drive economic growth is not enough," said Harijanto.

According to him, there are some sectors that ogled, such as agricultural industry and local based industries. Although, the government still can not ensure what industry sector will be prioritized in the future.

Later, this will be formulated further. "This is what we will discuss periodically," he concluded.
