President Jokowi: Integrated Transportation To Reduce Congestion

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Today, President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Railway. On the occasion, President Jokowi said the government continues to build and develop integrated transportation modes to reduce congestion, including in Jakarta and surrounding areas.

"We are not just building an airport train, we also want to divert the users of private cars to use mass transportation," said President Jokowi at Sudirman Baru Station Jakarta, Tuesday (2/1/2018).

President Jokowi said the airport train operation is one of provision of transportation modes to reduce congestion including in Jakarta and surrounding areas.

"In the future, if it is integrated between MRT, LRT, busway, airport train, fast train all, will encourage the transition from the use of private vehicles to mass transit," he said.

Talking about when targets of all modes of transportation can be integrated, Jokowi says everything will be done one by one. "The airport train will be completed, the LRT 2019 will be completed, the MRT from south to north will be completed as well," he said.

He mentioned the provision of mass transportation is convenient, on time is a necessity for the Greater Jakarta area because of congestion every year to create losses of up to Rp67 trillion.

Regarding the ministry of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Jokowi said, good service and on time. "If we see the train is good, comfortable and most importantly fast and on time, 55 minutes," said Jokowi.

For non-cash payments, Jokowi said it should start, using either a credit card or a debit card. As for the Soekarno-Hatta Airport railway tariff, the President expects the Rp70,000 tariff to be maintained.

"But it still counts everything because we are not just building an airport train but we also want to divert the users private cars to want to use mass transportation, it could be subsidinya from the Government of DKI," said Jokowi.
