Three Pelni Ships Serve Online Cargo Shipping Reservation

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Three passenger ships owned by PT Pelni (Persero) will serve reservations and tracking through Pelni Logistics mobile application launched in Jakarta.

The three passenger ships are Dobonsolo, Ciremai and Gunung Dempo which pass through the route to the 12 port cities.

"For the first phase of the 12 ports, so our three vessels pass through 12 ports," said Pelni's Director of Maritime Goods Transportation and Transport Utilities Harry Boediarto at a press conference launching the application in Jakarta on Thursday (4/1/2017)

The 12 port cities passed by three passenger ships for the initial phase of the reservation service through the mobile application are Tanjung Priok Port, Tanjung Perak Port, Makassar Port, Baubau Port, Ambon Port, Sorong Port, Manokwari Port, Nabire Port, Wasior Port, Serui Port, Port of Biak and Port of Jayapura.

"But in April we are targeting all ports passed by our passenger ships can be ordered and in tracking (traced) containers," he said.

Thus, next April, the company targets that the service can reach 26 passenger ships passing through 96 port cities.

The "Pelni Logistics" mobile app can be downloaded on PlayStore for Android users and immediately available for iOS-based phones. Nevertheless, users can access it through pelnilogistics.co.id site to place ordering and tracking of goods.

The purpose of the launch of the mobile app is to facilitate consumers in the delivery of goods.

The mobile application is also expected to increase the company's revenue, improve the accuracy of the receipt of money and encourage the image of the company as a provider of cargo / container delivery services.

With the application, the goods owner can place a faster container order and can track the arrival of the shipment.

Director of Operations of PT Sarana Bandar Nasional (Pelni Logistics) Murdiyoto explained the procedure of using the application, by entering the number of containers to be ordered. Then, it will show the available ship schedule as well as the required cost.

At the end of the order, the application will automatically send the booking code (e-mail) to the subscriber for further live make payments via ATM.

"The owner of the goods can also find out the position (tracking) goods," he said. (Ant)
