INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - To overcome the complaints of business actors regarding the port tariffs that are considered expensive, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi lower port rates.
"The tariff of how we should also consider, we must reduce, we agree to lower the tariffs," Budi said at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry of Economy, Monday (15/1/2018).
According to Budi, the reduction of port tariff is to make the maritime industry competition RI can be competitive with neighboring countries. Especially when Budi heard that port fares in Singapore are cheaper than Indonesia.
"We lower this tariff to make it competitive, although there are still fewer tariff differences," he said.
One that Budi sees is the financing conditions at commercial ports, such as Tanjung Priok Port. Examples such as the problem of operational cost of waveguide and tugboats are considered expensive.
Budi admitted, the government plans to reduce the tariffs of large ships that will enter the port. In order to attract the interest of large ships to lean on the Indonesian port.
