INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The government continues to encourage the growth of aircraft maintenance and repair, maintenance and overhaul (MRO) industries in Indonesia due to the industry's many potential for development that is integrated with several domestic airports.

"The growth in the number of domestic air passengers increased by an average of 15 percent per year over the last 10 years," said Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto through his statement received in Jakarta on Friday (2/2/2018)

The number of international air passengers rose by about eight percent and Indonesia is the third largest country in Asia in aircraft purchases after China and India.

Airlangga said that Bintan is developing an Airport and Aerospace Industry Park on an area of 4,000 hectares.

This integrated aviation area will be the most complete in Indonesia with several supporting facilities such as airports, aircraft repair facilities, flight training, and business and residential areas.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Indonesia Aircraft Maintenance Service Association (IAMSA) agreed to synergize for the development of educational units and the provision of teaching experts in the field of aircraft maintenance.

In addition, cooperation is also done with the industry that will accommodate the graduates to be directly absorbed work.

Ministry of Industry noted, Indonesia will absorb as many as 12-15 thousand MRO experts in the next 15 years.

Meanwhile, aviation technicians in Indonesia only produce 200 experts per year, while the need reaches 1,000 people per year.

Airlangga added, the domestic aviation industry continues to grow and experience significant growth.

This is indicated by the increase in the amount of air traffic, both passengers and the flow of goods.
