INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, The government's decision to open the opportunity of world information technology (IT) professionals to float his career in Indonesia to polemic among IT professionals.

They call IT talent graduated from the top universities in this country very much. They caution that the problem arises because most vendors in the IT field are foreign companies so they prefer to bring in labor from their respective countries.

Chairman of the e-Commerce Association of Indonesia (idEA) Aulia E. Marinto said the government should encourage more local IT personnel than to facilitate the entry of foreign workers in the sector.

"Our IT workforce is quite a lot, but it is not recorded, they are autodidacted, good at IT for their hobbies and self-study. These need to get data collection and how they can be more advanced," said Aulia in the event "Foreign OTT Raid Discussion" in Jakarta, Saturday (3/2/2018).

He stressed that the government should print IT experts from formal academics. Thus, IT experts from their own country can continue to grow.

Aulia said the information and communication technology industry now requires professional IT professional graduates. "So it does not mean we do not need foreign workers, we need them for knowledge transfer, but they have to keep pushing local IT personnel," he explained.

Furthermore, he revealed, it takes encouragement from various circles to develop local players. He said less active stakeholders at the local level on local players.

"Now the minister is active, my regent has never been dangerous, should be synchronized not only in the center but also at the district level," said Aulia.

Aulia also said that stakeholders should take sides with local players. Not only from the side of investors and regulators, local players must develop themselves in order to compete and sustain the government and the various parties led to positive results.

On the other hand, Director General of Informatics Applications Semuel Abrijani said, it can not be separated from the role of investors to develop products of business actors. Unfortunately local investors, assessed Semuel, has not moved much to help develop local players in the digital industry.

"Why local investors have not moved? This is a real business, but in Indonesia there are many opportunities created by applicators that have not been touched, I expect local investors to move," said the man who is familiarly called Sammy.

Sammy explained, startup in Indonesia can not only rely on funds from banks to grow their business. As a result, investors are needed, especially local investors to participate in developing local players.

"The model is a new (business) model, so we can not rely on banks that have interest," said Semmy.
