INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Central Bureau of Statistics noted that household consumption in 2017 slowed, which in 2016 was at the level of 5.01%. But the following year decreased to 4.95%.
Head of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Kecuk Suharianto said, the slowdown in household consumption occurred in the fourth quarter of 2017.
"It's a bit late there, all of them grow but some grow tall and some grow slowly," said Kecuk Suhariyanto at BPS office, Central Jakarta, Monday (5/2/2018).
The slowdown in household consumption occurred in several sectors. Among other groups are food and beverages, clothing components, footwear, and care services.
Furthermore, housing components and home appliances cumulatively grew 4.26%. However, when compared with 2016 there is a slowdown, its value is 4.60%. "We expect household consumption to be better, the condition of purchasing power must be maintained," he said.
In the future, said Kecuk, household consumption is believed to be increasing according to the target set, which is above 5%.
"It can be up to 5 percent more than I can, since in the second quarter of this year, the percentage of savings increased, which means that the family is upholding some of the expenditure, so the income consumed will decline," he said.
Kecuk reviews household consumption figures, possibly difficult to move above 5%. It could be even stagnant alias silent in place. "I think it's not stagnant, right 4.95% is small because there are holidays and more," said Kecuk.
