INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II plans to build a Cikarang Bekasi Laut (CBL) Ciparang Kanal (CBL) link in quarter I-2018 that connects Tanjung Priok-Cikarang.
President Director of Pelindo II Elvyn G Masassya in Media Visit discussion at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, Monday (5/2/218) said that CBL development is one project that will be run in 2018.
"CBL 2018 began construction, first quarter" groundbreaking "," he said.
Elvyn explained that the CBL Channel project is an effort to optimize the river channel by using barge as an alternative of freight transportation and connecting between harbors with "hinterland" areas, thus reducing road density on land and is expected to impact on efficiency of time and cost.
The project is being built in three phases that will be equipped with container terminals and bulk terminals expected to be completed by 2021.
Pelindo II Risk Engineering and Risk Management Director Dani Rusli mentioned CBL Channel project investment, which is Rp2-3 trillion.
"We will do gradually first from small business, after the new mature we make bigger. What is important we go first, do not get big but the business does not work," he said.
For the initial phase, Dani said the capacity will be tested 500,000 TEUs per year, only to increase its capacity to one to 1.5 million TEUs per year.
"The operational target of phase I, four to five ships every four hours, if it has a road can be 10-15 ships," he said.
Currently, he explained that he is still in the process of licensing with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) so as not to disrupt its original function as a flood controller.
"We are coordinating with PUPR there are some parts that we tested not to disrupt the main function as flood controller. From the most important investment is the system is on the process of licensing is not easy," he said.
Dani hopes that with CBL, can provide alternative modes between land and rail mode, so it can offer the efficiency of delivery of goods.
"If we once transported 90 boxes with cars or trucks less than 1.5 kilometers in length would reduce pollution and congestion, but we must have a competitive cost, this is what we are studying," he said.
