INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Grant Thornton's latest report entitled "Asia Pacific: trading and thriving" which was released in early February 2018 mentions, business optimism in Indonesia is the highest in the world reaching 100 percent. While at the level of ASEAN and Asia Pacific only 58 percent.
In addition, optimism about the increase in sales is also believed to be 72 percent of business in Indonesia. The optimism is higher than the ASEAN average at 58 percent and Asia Pacific at 67 percent.
Grant Thornton itself is one of the leading global organizations providing audit, tax and advisory services. According to this institution, Indonesia's economic performance in 2018 is estimated to improve as the government optimism.
Government's optimism is evident from Indonesia's economic growth target in 2018 which is projected to reach 5.4 percent (higher than 2017).
The increase in Indonesia's economic growth target in 2018 is mainly driven by an increase in investment and export performance as stated in the Financial Note and RAPBN 2018 issued by the Ministry of Finance.
The growth target is supported by other factors such as the US dollar exchange rate and relatively stable inflation and rising commodity prices.
On the other hand, the level of optimism in China, Japan and other major countries in Asia is believed to be an external driving factor of Indonesia's high optimism.
Based on the survey data, Grant Thornton noted the three main supporting factors that are believed business players in Indonesia to support business optimism are:
Consistently increasing number of middle class
Improvement of ASEAN Economic Community (MEA)
Development of local infrastructure
Although Indonesia has scored a lot of positive data compared to regional but it should be underlined also some potential development areas where Indonesia is still below the average of Asia Pacific and ASEAN region, which is related to increased investment in the field of research and development and increased investment in technology.
At the Asia-Pacific level alone, Grant Thornton recorded a positive economic movement in the region, which is reflected from the level of business optimism reached the highest point during the last 2 years at 41 percent.
The dynamic economy is mainly driven by two economic powers, China and Japan and supported by increased trade in Asia Pacific countries.
Managing Partner of Grant Thornton Indonesia, Johanna Gani hopes businessmen in Indonesia will be able to respond wisely to various positive data of Asia Pacific economies by managing their trading strategy as well as possible.
"And do a review as early as possible on the needs of development areas that support their industry to maintain the growth of business on an ongoing basis," he said through his press.
