Industry Becomes the Biggest Contributors of National GDP of 20.16 Percent

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, Industrial sector is still the largest contributor to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with the achievement of 20.16 percent in 2017.
Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the growth of non-oil and gas processing industry was 5.14 percent in the fourth quarter of 2017, higher than the same period of 2016 which reached about 3.91 percent.
From the data, the next largest contributor to GDP is agriculture which contributes 13.14 percent, trade (13.01 percent), construction (10.38 percent) and mining (7.57 percent).
"The Ministry of Industry continues to encourage investment and expansion in the manufacturing sector to further enhance the growth of national economy," said Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto when met in Jakarta on Wednesday (7/2/2018).
The sub-sectors experienced the highest growth in the fourth quarter / 2017, namely food and beverage industry by 13.76 percent, machinery and equipment industry 9.51 percent, basic metal industry 7.05 percent, and textile and apparel industries 6.39 percent .
"These achievements above the national economic growth of 5.07 percent throughout 2017," he explained.
Minister of Industry convey, it is focusing on spurring performance of export labor-intensive industries oriented.
"We will continue to drive export-oriented labor-intensive industries such as textiles, clothing, and footwear which until now remain a mainstay for having high competitiveness," he said.
