INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) will implement the seventh Population Census, by 2020. The census will require a minimum of 800 thousand human resources as enumerators.
Deputy for Social Statistics BPS M. Sairi Hasbullah said that the figure of 800 thousand is the minimum number where the enumerator needs the most is 1 million enumerators. According to him, this energy is needed because the number of BPS staff is not adequate. According to him, the current number of BPS workforce only amounted to 15 thousand people.
"Of course because our power is not enough, then there will be a special recruitment for enumerators in the year 2020," said Sairi in a press release on Wednesday (14/2/2018).
This amount, continued Sairi, is considered not excessive considering the Population Census Indonesia is the fourth largest census in the world after China, India, and the United States. Moreover, the enumeration will be felt heavy as Indonesia's geographical conditions vary.
The plan, this recruitment began to be implemented in early 2020 and will be deployed directly in the census conducted in June. The community can certainly enlist to become the enumerator of origin has graduated from Senior High School (SMA).
"There will be two days training so that the quality of enumeration from Sabang to Merauke are all the same, nothing is different," he explained.
Later, the recruitment process will also be assisted by the local government apparatus up to the village and village levels.
In addition to training, the enumerator must also intend to follow the Population Census program. Because, reflecting on the 2010 Population Census, the community is not very accommodating to the officers, where this condition is different than some previous census.
"The bigger 2020 is social change, the higher the mobility and the more individualistic people, the 1 million census officers in this field certainly have variations to be found in the field," he concluded.
The Population Census is conducted every ten years as mandated by Law No. 16 of 1997 on Statistics. The first census was conducted in 1961 and was last done in 2010. In the last Population Census, the population of Indonesia was recorded at 242.5 million
