Bekraf-BPS Record GDP of Creative Economy 2016 Rp922,57 Trillion

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- The Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) and the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) released data showing the gross domestic product (GDP) of the creative economy sector created in 2016 reached Rp922.59 trillion.
Head of Bekraf Triawan Munaf at the launch of Book of Creative Economic Statistics in Jakarta, Tuesday (27/2/2018) said the creative economy GDP in 2016 contributed 7.44 percent to the total national economy.
By comparison, the GDP of creative economy in 2015 was recorded at Rp852.56 trillion and contributed 7.39 percent of the total national economy.
Triawan said there are three sub-sectors that contribute the most in the GDP of creative economy in 2016, namely culinary of 41.40 percent to the GDP of creative economy, fashion 18.01 percent and craft 15.40 percent.
Culinary subsector was recorded able to reap revenue of Rp382 trillion during 2016 followed by fashion (Rp166 trillion) and craft (Rp142 trillion).
Meanwhile, the number of creative economic workers in Indonesia in 2016 reached 16.91 million people or about 14.28 percent of the working age population. This figure increased 5.95 percent compared to the number of workers in the creative economy sector in 2015 which reached 15.96 million people.
Bekraf and BPS recorded the main employment population of the creative economy averaging 4.69 percent per year. Creative economy entrepreneurs are dominated by women entrepreneurs (54.96 percent).
Then, based on adjustments to the 2016 Economic Census results, the number of creative economy businesses in Indonesia reached 8.2 million.
Of these, 65.37 percent of businesses are in Java, 17.94 percent in Sumatra, 4.95 in Kalimantan, 6.53 percent in Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua, 5.21 percent in Bali, NTB and NTT.
At the regional level, five provinces with the largest gross regional domestic product are Yogyakarta Special Region (16.12 percent), Bali (12.57 percent), West Java (11.81 percent), East Java (9.37 percent) and North Sumatra (4.77 percent). (Ant)
