INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, An Organization belong to the Ministry of Industry, Balai Besar Teknologi Pencegahan Pencemaran Industri (BBTPPI) Semarang found microbial waste decomposers and integrated sewage treatment system.
This discovery is expected to answer about the waste problem that people complain about industrial area.
"The problem of environmental pollution and public health in the industrial environment continues to be the concern of the Ministry of Industry in building an environmentally friendly and sustainable industry," said Head of the Agency for Research and Development of Industry (BPPI) Ngakan Timur Antara in Jakarta (4/3/2018).
According to Ngakan, this integrated waste treatment system in principle is the implementation of anaerob-wetland processing technology. Anaerobic technology is a biological waste treatment system by decomposing pollutant compounds by utilizing microbial activity.
"The treatment is done anaerobically or without air As a further process in its processing, this anaerobic technology combined with wetland is the process of processing using plants as the medium," he explained.
Thus, in addition to using microbes, BBTPPI also develops wastewater treatment using rooted plants (wetland). After the waste is degraded, the waste will be passed in rooted plants, which will absorb the pollutant elements.
Ngakan said, the discovery of integrated systems of waste treatment will be duplicated to similar companies. "Because previously, in an effort to decompose waste, some companies use chemicals, where the processing still contains toxic and hazardous materials (B3)," he said.
Therefore, through anaerobic microbes, the resulting waste will meet the quality standard or waste quality standard and free from B3 waste.
The research of integrated waste processing system has been applied in PT Korin Jaya which is engaged in carton production. The Director of Operations of PT Korin Jaya, Mr. Park Jung Yong stated, the waste that was once black and solid, has now changed like river water.
"PT Korin is concerned with the environment, so the research from BBTPPIkami is applied so that people are free from cancer," he said.
According to him, by applying BBTPPI research results, the cost incurred by the company becomes smaller than the impact of pollution occurring in the environment and society. "We will invite other companies to see the performance of research results from this Ministry of Industry," said Ngakan
