INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- Managing Partner of Coffee Ventures Kevin Darmawan said the new startup should be able to follow how consumers behave.

"Basically, consumers are always willing to try new products that offer different advantages and experiences," said Kevin Darmawan in the discussion "Building a Sustainable Start-Up" in Jakarta, Thursday (8/3/2018)

If the new "startup" performer is not capable of making the latest service, then the same product must have different value added.

With the added value, "startup" will attract different markets.

He says the founder of the new "startup" must have persistence, love his work, open mindedness and network building.

"Learning from experience, not many 'startup' that survive and forced to fold," he said.

In addition, he said the new "startup" actors should focus on recruiting the right employees.

"If the difficulty of finding employees who are loyal and ready to fight for the company, then it can hire a freelancer or a freshman graduate with a capable ability," he said.

Based on a report on the development of the "startup" industry of 2017 issued by DailySocial, there are currently more than 230 companies in Indonesia and four of them are successful startup unicorns, with an investment of US $ 1.6-2.8 million. The four start-up unicorns are Go-Jek, Traveloka, Tokopedia, and Bukalapak.

The development of "startup" technology is not separated from the increasing need for digital lifestyle in Indonesia. Active internet users in Indonesia are increasing every year, by 2017, there were 132.7 million Internet users in Indonesia, 50% higher than the previous year.

The most active investors providing funding to startups are local investors, followed by investors from the United States, Singapore and China. (Ant)
