INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, the Government through the Ministry of Transport (Kemenhub) decided to temporarily suspend the registration of taxi drivers online, on the grounds that the number of taxi online in each application is too much
Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi stated before the moratorium was enacted, his side and the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Luhut Binsar Panjaitan have received input from many parties. One of them is the number of drivers who have been too much, thus causing unhealthy competition.
"Anyway no longer accept taxi registration online because pity, the driver is competing more tightly," said Budi, after a meeting at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Jakarta (12/3/2018).
Budi added, currently many taxi drivers who have difficult to get passengers because the competition is getting more and more. "For that, the moratorium decision is taken so as not to get worse competition among taxi drivers online," he explained.
In addition, Budi asked the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (Kemenkominfo) to complete the dashboard or application to determine the number of active quota taxi drivers online.
"In this week (completed) and reported to the Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs," said Budi.
At the same occasion, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Luhut Binsar Panjaitan asked all taxi operators online to abide by the rules. This is according to him for the entire process of transportation, especially online taxis can run well.
"Later will cause problems, because 70 percent of the results of that study, many vehicles that credit," said Luhut.
For that Luhut worry also later the number of passengers and taxi vehicles online is not balanced then there will be a default. This is what he does not want, so the government agreed to do the moratorium until the point comes balanced.
Nevertheless, Luhut ensures that there are currently no default incidents from the taxi drivers who make car loans.
"A lot of credit but there is no one fail to pay, but indeed we keep watch do not fail to pay," said Luhut.
