INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) officially took over the authority to recommend the import of industrial salt, previously held by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP).
The right of authority was obtained after President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) issued a government regulation (PP) regarding the transfer of industrial salt import recommendation right from KKP to Ministry of Industry.
In other words, the authority was transferred from the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti to the Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto.
Previously there was a polemic when Minister Susi rejected the decision of a limited coordination meeting (rakortas) at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs which set the 2018 industry's sugar demand of 3.7 million tons.
As is known, the figure of 3.7 million tons is the proposal of the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin). Susi rate the number is too much and exceed the needs that should be met.
The number one person in the CTF only recommends imports of industrial salt of 2.17 million tons. While Ministry of Industry Resolute with 3.7 million tons.
Finally, the Ministry of Trade as a regulator issuing import permits takes the middle way of issuing import permits for 2.37 million tons.
The salt import permit was issued by the Ministry of Trade in early January 2018 for a quota of 2.37 million tons. As time goes by, there are some companies that are experiencing a crisis because they do not get industrial salt rations.
