Sota Boundary Development will Start in June 2018

INDUSTRY.co.id - Merauke - Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the construction of the Sota border area in Merauke Regency, Papua Province, will begin in June 2018.

Sota border location is about 80 km from Merauke with steady road conditions that can be reached within one hour.

This was conveyed by Minister Basuki during a stop to review Sota Border Post on his way from Merauke to Boven Digul on Friday (16/3/2018) which started at 05.30 WIT.

"Currently crossers limit about 20-25 people every day. We will fix it even though it is not as big as Skouw in Jayapura. We will improve the facilities so that in addition to security defense functions can be a goal people see the border in southern Papua, "said Minister Basuki.

This is in line with NawaCita President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla to build Indonesia from the periphery and make cross-border post as Indonesia's proud front porch as a great nation.

During the visit Minister Basuki talked with David, the Tribes Leader on the border regarding the housing development plan for the border community.

"PLNP development is not only a gateway but an embryo of regional economic growth that can improve the welfare of border community," explained Minister Basuki.

Development of Sota border area is done by Ditjen Cipta Karya is divided into core zones, sub-core and supporters. In the core zone will be built State Border Cross (PLBN), sita warehouse, clinic.

The sub-core zones are the official houses, the Indonesian homestead and the supporting zones of rest area, church, mosque, parking and renovation of Sota Market.

Settlement infrastructure for residents around the border will be built such as drinking water supply system (SPAM), waste processing facilities, provision of public toilets and communal septic tanks, environmental roads and drainage for communities around the border.

In 2016 the Ministry of PUPR has completed seven PLBNs inaugurated by President Jokowi. The seven PLBN namely PLBN Wini, Motaain, and Motamasin in NTT borders East Timor, Entikong, Badau and Aruk PLBN in West Kalimantan borders with Malaysia, and PLBN Skouw in Papua bordering Papua New Guinea.
