PT Timah Targets 2 Million Tons of Tin Production Up To 2021

INDUSTRY.co.id - Pangkalpinang - PT Timah Tbk targets production to 2021 of 2 million tons of tin for the company to remain the second tin ore producer in the world.

"We are continuously looking for new tin ore reserves to realize the production target," said PT Timah Trenggono Sutioso, Business Development and Business Development Director, during a focus group discussion activity in Pangkalpinang on Friday (16/3/2018).

He explained that tin baron production in 2017 reaches 31 thousand tons of supply from Bangka Belitung and Kundur Islands, with 60% contribution coming from mining at sea.

"As many as 60 percent of the tin comes from the sea, meaning that tin ore reserves play an important role to supply the production of PT Timah," he said.

Sutioso said that in realizing the targeted tin production of 2021 is quite difficult, because on the other hand the current tin reserves are estimated at about 300 thousand tons and enough up to 10 years into the future. "We really hope to find new reserves in the hope that 2021 can get 2 million tons of tin," he said.

PT Timah continues its efforts to optimize the mining management of IUP Tin marine and business development.

"We hope this target can be realized well, so that PT Timah can still say at least as the number two producer in the world," he said. (ant)
