INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi offers Indian investors a number of infrastructure investment projects ranging from ports, airports or railway projects in Indonesia.
Budi at the India-Indonesia Infrastructure Forum (IIIF) said here on Monday (19/3/2018) that foreign investment is being encouraged to manage ports and airports especially for companies with experience in the sector.
"I think the good relationship between Indonesia and India can be explored, can be improved in a concrete activity, especially at airports and ports, but it is not impossible in the railway project as well," he said.
Budi explained that the large-scale airports planned to be offered to India include Kualanamu Airport (Medan) and Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman (Balikpapan) Airport and mid-scale airports such as Radin Inten II Airport (Lampung), Juwata Airport (Tarakan) and Komodo Airport (Labuan Bajo) .
There is also a port that will be offered including the Port of Kuala Tanjung (North Sumatra) and the Port of Bitung (North Sulawesi).
"Others have smaller ports in central Indonesia," he said.
Former Director of Angkasa Pura I, the media crew said that the offer of infrastructure management such as airports and ports does not mean selling assets to foreigners but rather giving limited concessions with a certain period of time.
The granting of limited concessions to infrastructure management is carried out with a number of considerations, such as the need for funds and private expertise.
"We also want the Foreign investment collaboration to get a positive sentiment from a country, India is quite influential in giving that positive sentiment, so like a snowball, we will get a lot of investment, not only in transportation but also other investment," he said.
On the other hand, Indonesia is also expected to increase its competitiveness in offering investment.
"Therefore, we want to improve the investment services so that they are more 'firm' (firm) can invest more easily and friendly but we can still maintain good governance," he said.
