INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has decided to take over the permit of imported salt recommendation from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP). This is in line with the many industry players who want to import salt immediately issued for business continuity.

Director General of Chemical Industry of Textiles and Multifarious Industries (Dirjen IKTA) Ahmad Sigit Dwiwahjono said that when imported salt is not issued, some industrial plants are threatened with bankruptcy due to lack of raw materials of salt. In fact, one of the paper factories located in Batam to have to reduce its employees because its business is threatened.

"It is true that most of those who are critical are in Batam, I happened yesterday from there, they (until they have to reduce their employees) from their employee 3000 have been deducted 1,200 employees," he said at the Ministry of Industry, Jakarta, Tuesday (19/3/2018).

For information, previously Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto mention some industry players have started to get imported salt quota. It follows the recommendation of imported salt that has been issued by it.

According to Airlangga, with the acquisition of salt, some industrial companies began to re-do their production. Even some industrial companies that previously threatened to go bankrupt, can start to operate normally with the issuance of salt import recommendation.

According to Airlangga, in the recommendation of imports that he issued still refers to the quota of industrial needs that is 3.7 million tons. In practice, salt import will be done gradually depending on the needs of the industry
