INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The tourism sector is one of the priority programs of the Working Cabinet under President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla to increase foreign exchange and investment. To achieve the target of 20 million foreign tourist arrivals until 2019, the Government has set 10 National Strategic Tourism Areas (KSPN) or "10 new Bali".
The ten KSPNs are Mandalika in Prov. NTB, Morotai Island in Prov. North Maluku, Tanjung Kelayang in Prov. Bangka Belitung, Lake Toba in Prov. North Sumatra, Wakatobi in Prov. Southeast Sulawesi, Borobudur in Prov. Central Java, Kepulauan Seribu in Prov. DKI Jakarta, Tanjung Lesung in Prov. Banten, Bromo Tengger Semeru in Prov. East Java and Labuan Bajo in Prov. NTT. Of the ten KSPN are set three as priorities namely Borobudur, Lake Toba, and Mandalika.
"Infrastructure development for each KSPN is planned in an integrated manner, including the arrangement of areas, roads, the provision of raw water and clean water, waste management, sanitation, and the improvement of people's occupancy through a master plan for infrastructure development," said Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono in an official statement received INDUSTRY.co.id, Friday (23/3/2018).
Exemplified infrastructure support for the development of one of the KSPN Lake Toba. The challenge is access road to tourist sites. Currently, the travel time from Medan to Lake Toba is about five hours drive to take the 170 km long road which will be complementary with Silangit Airport.
Therefore the Ministry of PUPR seeks to cut the travel time by half through the development of toll roads involving private investment. In 2018, the Medan-Kualanamu-Tebing Tinggi toll road target of 61.7 km will be completed. Continued with the construction of Towing Tebing TInggi-Pematang Siantar along 35 km and Pematang Siantar to Parapat along the length of 27 km.
In addition to the arterial road is done improvement of Toba ring road both in inner ring road along the 125 km and outer ring road along the 360 km.
The water resources sector, the PUPR Ministry will widen the Tano Ponggol Canal with a budget of Rp 111.7 billion through multi-year contracts of 2017-2018 and build Tano Ponggol Samosir Bridge.
In addition, Aek Natonang pond will be built with an area of 29.2 hectares which will save rain water for irrigation needs at a cost of Rp 9.2 billion. This is to anticipate the skyrocketing demand for clean water in line with the increasing tourist visits.
To reduce the risk of flooding, built Bendung in North Tapanuli to reduce flooding. The 32-meter high dam was funded with APBN funds amounting to Rp 42.99 billion. Then repair of Aek Sigeaon river embankment in North Tapanuli regency along 1 km at a cost of Rp 25 billion.
Settlement infrastructure also received a development touch with a budget of Rp 166.5 billion. The funds are used for the development of Water Supply System (SPAM), the development of Lake Toba Attraction Area, Sanitation Handling, Water Treatment Plant, and the development of Ajibata area.
Waste and waste management is also a challenge to make the water quality of Lake Toba cleaner than it is today. To anticipate this, the Ministry of PUPR will build a sewage treatment plant in 31 urban villages around Lake Toba gradually until 2021.
