INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) declared the tariff reduction is only one way to reduce the cost of the logistics sector because comprehensive efforts are needed from all aspects.
"Do not look at the tariff but see the efficiency of the logistics system, if the tariff is only one aspect," said Deputy of Energy, Logistics and Tourism Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises Edwin Hidayat Abdullah in Forum "Synergy Government, State-Owned Enterprises, Private Build Country" / 3/20180
Edwin said in the roadmap that has been prepared, it is targeted there could be a logistic drop to about 2 percent in some time to come.
The target is pegged because the current ratio of logistics costs to gross domestic product (GDP) reached 23.5 percent.
"Actually our target is 19-20 percent so the target could fall by about two percent in the years ahead," he said.
However, Edwin stated, toll rates are only one of the aspects that could affect the reduction of national logistics costs.
He said a number of other aspects including the integration of digitization at the port will also affect the decline in national logistics costs.
"(Digitalization) also includes one that lowers logistics costs, but please do not see that (decrease) toll rates, boat tickets and others, it's just a bit of a part, just how efficient we are in our logistics system," he concluded.
Previously, President Joko Widodo requested that toll rates be lowered following the complaints of users, especially for logistics needs. Responding to this, the Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing are formulating a number of policies on the highway to reduce the high cost of logistics borne by businessmen.
The two policies are tariff rationalization through tariff reduction with compensation of concession additions to business entities and the simplification of vehicle transport categories. (Ant)
