INDUSTRY.co.id - Batam- PT Djakarta Lloyd (Persero) is exploring an oil transportation contract with PT Pertamina (Persero) for a maximum period of 10 years.
President Director of PT Djakarta Lloyd (Persero) Suyoto in Batam, Riau Islands, Wednesday, said that in preparation for cooperation with Pertamina, it has signed a contract to build a tanker with PT Dok Perkapalan Surabaya (Persero) since October 2017.
The contract value of the construction of the 6,500 DWT tanker has reached Rp170 billion.
He hoped that the cooperation contract of fuel transportation with Pertamina could increase the company's earnings, which had weakened.
The cooperation with Pertamina for oil transportation is a form of expansion of the freight service segment, having previously successfully delivered coal to PT PLN Persero.
Djakarta Lloyd has prepared a ship, MV Dharma Lautan Intan, to transport coal owned by PT PLN Persero, adding to the company's fleet in working on coal hauling contracts.
Djakarta Lloyd and PT PLN have contracted 3.7 tons of coal. The volume tripled compared with contracts obtained in 2017.
MV Dharma Lautan Intan has a weight of 50,000 DWT - 60,000 DWT or entered in supramax class.
Suyoto said the vessel was purchased for 12 million US dollars, or about Rp164 billion through the auction process.
"The fund for the purchase of vessels is sourced from internal cash and bank loans," he said.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of SOEs welcomes the steps of state-owned shipping company PT Djakarta Lloyd (Persero), which is procuring bulk carriers.
"This is a good moment, as part of the synergy of SOEs, between Djakarta Lloyd and PLN," said SOE Minister Rini M Soemarno.
Rini expects the ship MV Dharma Lautan Intan can meet the needs of coal services PT PLN is increasing this year.
