INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) Tbk distributes natural gas to export-oriented sweets manufacturer PT Serba Gurih Indonesia (SGI) in Pasuruan, East Java.
"This PGN gas distribution as a support for the country's industry is increasingly competitive in the world market, SGI produces ginger candy which is exported to several countries in America, Europe and Australia," PGN Corporate Secretary Rachmat Hutama said in a written statement.
According to him, at first, SGI did not qualify to be approved as PGN subscriber because based on network investment calculation is not suitable with minimum usage volume. However, SGI still wants to be a PGN customer.
The ginger candy factory is willing to spend up to Rp575 million to build its own network to connect with the PGN gas distribution network. "SGI agreed to issue a network investment with a self-financing scheme to subscribe to gas," Rachmat said.
Finally, said Rachmat, PGN distributed natural gas to SGI from early April 2018 with the first phase of 20,000 cubic meters per month.
"With the industry interest and cooperative model agreed upon, we, as a distributor of natural gas, are increasingly challenged to be able to channel natural gas more reliably and guaranteed to customers," said Rachmat.
Currently, PGN builds and operates a natural gas pipeline infrastructure of 7,453 km or 80 percent of Indonesia's downstream gas pipeline, without burdening the state budget.
Of the infrastructure, PGN is delivering gas to 1,730 industrial and power generation customers, 1,964 commercial customers such as hotels, restaurants and restaurants, as well as small businesses, and 199,403 household customers. PGN customers are spread across 19 cities in 12 provinces.
