Minister Budi Expects LRT Project to be Completed and Operated

INDUSTRY.co.id - Palembang - After two trainset of Light Rail Transit (LRT) of South Sumatera are officially accepted, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi hopes the completion of LRT project development is accelerated so that it can be operated soon.

"I am very excited that this trainset is already present, meaning that the progress we plan is going according to plan, even we take the initiative if the solution is faster, not mid-July but early July," said Minister of Transportation while attending the LRT Trainset Acceptance event in South Sumatra New Boom Port of Palembang, Friday (20/4/2018).

Trainset produced by PT Industri Kereta Api (INKA) will then be tested with some tests that are static test, dynamic test and last will be done real test to test LRT to be operational.

"Currently the trainset is coming, we will do some tests, both static and dynamic tests and finally we will make a real test," said Minister of Transportation.

Meanwhile, Director General of Railways Zulfikri explained that the progress of physical development as a whole has reached 89.1%.

"From the overall plan of 23,4 km long stretch of LRT stages up to today April 20, 2018, the realization of physical progress has reached 89.1% .This condition exceeds the target that should be 84%," said Zulfikri.

In addition to supporting the implementation of the 2018 Asian Games grand event in August, is expected with the operation of this LRT transport will be useful for the people of Palembang especially to solve the congestion.

"We are concerned that LRT can be beneficial to the community, meaning that LRT can solve the congestion problem especially for the airport," said Minister of Transportation.
