INDUSTRY.co.id - Singapore, - The Indonesian government and people welcomed the outcome of a meeting of two Korean leaders on the line of military demarcation between North and South Korea on Friday (27/04/2018)
Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi made the remarks through his official Twitter account on the sidelines of accompanying President Joko Widodo during a dinner with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and the Plenary Leaders of ASEAN at the Prime Minister's Palace on Friday night.
The Foreign Minister also expressed Indonesia's hope that the meeting would be a foothold for lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and bring prosperity to the people of both countries.
Indonesia also hopes that the outcome of the inter-Korean meeting will be the start of a nuclear-free zone on the Korean Peninsula.
On Friday morning, North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-In held a meeting at the Korean military's demarcation line in Panmunjom Village.
The two Korean leaders showed intimacy as a signal to the world that the two are ready for a lasting peace.
Foreign Minister Retno said Indonesia will closely monitor the progress of the peace process on the Korean Peninsula.
