INDUSTRY.co.id - Probolinggo - PT Berkah Aneka Laut (BAL), a capture fishery company will soon have a storage warehouse (cold storage) with a capacity of 5000 tons. Cold Storage is somewhat large enough to accommodate local fishermen catch fish plus fish caught by fishermen workers PT BAL operating in eastern Indonesia.
"We have checked several locations in some places for the construction of the most ideal cold storage in Probolinggo. The hope is immediately built and can be directly used this year, "said Commissioner of PT BAL HM Soenarto Sholahuddin in Probolinggo, Sunday (29/04/2018).
The Company deliberately chose a place not far from Probolinggo International Port for cold storage locations targeted at the end of the year. Soenarto said, with the construction of cold storage is expected to accommodate the catch of local fishermen. Thus the fish catch can be stored as stock when there is a high demand.
"Cold storage is very important to maintain the quality of fish, and of course if there is cold storage fish stock can also be maintained. We have ideals to be able to market Grade A fish for domestic market. We want to increase fish consumption to the generation of the Indonesian nation, "he explained.
Thus, the construction of fish storage facilities is also in order to stabilize fish prices. Due to the existence of these facilities, fish catch fishermen can be stored longer and can be exported abroad because Probolinggo port is a port that immediately passed into an international port.
"In addition to guarding stocks, and stabilize prices, Probolinggo can also be one of the export of fishery products because Probolinggo international seaport," he said.
Initially, Soenarto admitted the construction of this new cold storage is to reduce costs. Almost every month the company must spend Rp600 million to rent cold storage to other parties.
"By having our own storage we believe the price of fish from PT BAL will be more competitive in the market, because consumers can get fish at cheaper prices," said Soenarto fiery.
Disclosed Director of PT BAL Redjo Supangat, for this project, the company will disburse a budget of about Rp150 billion from banking credit. This fish storage facility will stand on a 1.1 hectare land that will be built in stages by experienced contractors in East Java.
"The target in the six months we have been able to operate the capacity of 2000 tons, then in phase two then we will achieve the target storage capacity of 5000 tons," said Redjo.
Redjo expects his company to increase its production capacity and can contribute significantly to the national fishery production capacity.
