19 South Korean Investors Interested in Indonesia's Transportation Infrastructure Sector

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Government of Indonesia offers a number of cooperation on transport infrastructure projects to South Korea at the 9th Meeting of the ASEAN-Republic of Korea (RoK) Transport Cooperation Forum and Indonesia-Korea Transport Cooperation Meeting held in Seoul, South Korea, 25-27 April 2018 .
The 9th Meeting of the ASEAN-RoK Transport Cooperation Forum is a high-level official forum (Echelon 1) that is regularly held annually in South Korea. The purpose of this event is to share Korean experience in transportation and technology policy and to strengthen cooperation between ASEAN Member Countries and South Korea which is one of ASEAN's partner countries.
At the forum, the Indonesian delegation presented several explanations related to transportation projects in Indonesia such as the Guarantee of Transport Infrastructure Projects in Public Private Partnership, Light Rail Transit (LRT) Jakarta Development, Komodo Airport Development and Hang Nadim Airport, and Transit Oriented Development ( TOD) in Jabodetabek.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Transportation Sugihardjo who is also a STOM Leaders Indonesia, led the Indonesian Delegation at this meeting.
"On this occasion as many as 19 Korean companies are interested to meet to ask for explanation about transportation infrastructure projects in Indonesia," said Sugihardjo to media crew, last weekend.
Then the Indonesia-Korea Transport Cooperation Meeting was followed up as a follow-up to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Cooperation in the Field of Transport by the Minister of Transportation and Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in the presence of the two Heads of State at the time of the Republic of Korea November 2017.
The meeting was co-chaired by Secretary General of the Ministry of Transportation Sugihardjo with Korean Vice Minister of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kyung-Hwan Kim. The meeting discussed cooperation in the field of transportation between the two countries which included sharing experiences on Public Private Partnership (PPP) and opportunities for cooperation and investment in the land, air, and railway transportation sectors.
The transportation infrastructure projects discussed include Transit Oriented Development in Jabodetabek, Light Rail Transit Jakarta phase 2, Hang Nadim Airport-Batam, Komodo-Labuan Bajo Airport and Makassar-Pare-Pare Railway.
"The Korean party expressed interest and appointed Director of Overseas Construction and Supporting Division to follow up the matter," said Sugihardjo after the event.
As the last series of meetings a site visit was held on 27 April 2018 to see TOD areas in Korea (Yongsan Station and Suseo Station), ITS Center, and railway facilities.
Attending as a member of the RI Delegation at the meeting included Head of International Partnership and Institutional Facilitation Center Agus P Saptono, Director of Traffic and Railways Zulmafendi, Director of Infrastructure BPTJ Moh. Risal Wasal, and representatives of the Secretariat General, Directorate General of Land Transportation, Directorate General of Air Transportation, Directorate General of Railways, and BPTJ, and related stakeholders, among others PT. Jakpro, PT. Indonesia Infrastructure Guarantee, and Batam Enterprises Agency.
