Minister of Industry: The Growth of Work Force Performance Encourages National Economic Performance

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, Minister of Industry (Menperin) Airlangga Hartarto explains, human resource development is a preparation strategy to capture the demographic bonus opportunity that will be experienced by Indonesia in 2020-2030.
"The growing number of productive workforce can spur national economic performance," said Minister of Industry of Airlangga Hartarto in his statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday (1/5/2018).
To welcome this demographic bonus, he added, the government has prepared the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap as a clear strategy and direction in the face of the digital era or Industry 4.0, he explained.
Airlangga said, although digitization is inevitable, but this era of change will not eliminate employment.
"There are several new professions that will be created from current technological developments, new types of work compatible with 4.0 industry systems, including industrial data scientist, robotics specialist, and cyber security analyst," he said
Regarding the issuance of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 20 of 2018 on the Use of Foreign Workers (TKA), Minister of Industry affirmed that the regulation aims to improve the investment climate in Indonesia.
"So, the qualification of foreign workers who may enter Indonesia is not loosened, which may enter only workers with special skills that are less available in Indonesia," he explained.
Ministry of Industry noted, during the last five years (2013-2017) there was an increase in the number of industrial sector workers from 14.9 million people in 2013 to 17 million people in 2017, or an average increase of 512 thousand people per year.
The role of the industrial sector in absorbing labor, jumped from 13.54 percent in 2013 to 14.05 percent in 2017.
