August, INKA Builds Integrated Railway Factory in Banyuwangi

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (INKA) visited Banyuwangi to finalize the construction of an integrated railway plant in Banyuwangi on Monday (7/5). The state-owned railway company will build a new factory in Banyuwangi. The groundbreaking will be held in August 2018.
"Currently we process some technical things before groundbreaking. There is a land preparation that is being completed in the Ministry of SOEs because it involves other state-owned companies, namely PT Perkebunan Nusantara, "said Director of Finance and Human Resources of PT INKA, Mohamad Nur Sodiq when meeting Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas.
The PT INKA plant in Banyuwangi will stand on 72 hectares of land, and is listed as the second factory of railway manufacturers who have exported their products to various countries.
Sodiq explained that the construction of the factory takes a year, so the plant is expected to operate in August 2019. Banyuwangi plant is focused on the manufacture of export orders, as the orders of several countries.
"We chose Banyuwangi because it will be very efficient. Accessibility is good, sea network exists, "he said.
For this year PT.INKA is processing orders from several countries in Asia. One of them is Bangladesh who ordered 250 train cars and Philippines who order Diesel Rail Train (KRD) worth Rp 127.3 billion. There is also a train order from Srilanka worth Rp400 billion.
"Who is in the process of negotiating with Thailand. With the abundance of orders abroad and the fulfillment of the needs of trains in the country, we should immediately make a new factory in Banyuwangi this, "he said.
"Our factory in Madiun has a production capacity of 2 train cars per day. In addition to the Banyuwangi plant, we are targeting to have 4 trains per day to meet export orders, "he said.
