Rupiah Reaches Rp14,000 / US Dollar, Kadin: It's Profitable for Exporters

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, Vice Chairman of Trade Chamber of Commerce of Indonesia Trade Benny Soetrisno rate, weakening of the rupiah against the US dollar and earlier this week has penetrated the psychological threshold of Rp 14,000 per US dollar pleasant for exporters.

However, Benny sees this sharp fluctuation trend saddening importers.

"The impact (dollar rate) of Rp 14,000 for exporters is fun, but for importers it is rather difficult," said Benny in Jakarta, Tuesday (8/5/2018).

"Make it difficult because imports use dollars to sell them using dollars, so there is a price increase later," said Benny.

In response to the recent sharp decline in the rupiah, Benny said that Kadin Indonesia will continue to encourage export activities through logistics.

"We have to push our exports through logistics, because without export logistics we will not compete," Benny said.

He also asserted, with the rupiah weakening trend, Kadin Indonesia expects to boost export growth by around 16 percent.
