Support the Implementation of Industry 4.0, RI-Singapore Ready to Cooperate Increase Human Resources Competency

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto said that Indonesia and Singapore are ready to cooperate between universities of both countries.
This step is to support the program of human resource competency improvement as well as vocational education and training in line with the implementation of industry 4.0.
"In addition to boosting investment, Indonesia and Singapore agreed to continue to increase cooperation in the field of vocational education, especially for the industrial sector," said Airlangga after written statement in Jakarta (9/5/2018).
He added that this further strengthens the partnership between the two countries in order to complement each other's huge economic potential.
The commitment of cooperation in the field of vocational education has been implemented through the signing of the MoU between the Minister of Industry RI Airlangga Hartarto and Singapore's Minister of Education (Ong. Education and Skills) Ong Ye Kung last September in Singapore. The signing of the MoU was witnessed by Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
In addition, bilateral cooperation is also established through Technical Arrangement (TA) between Secretary General of Ministry of Industry with Director of Singapore Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Campus, and Collaborative Agreement between Kapusdiklat Industri and ITE Education Services (ITEES) Singapore.
"The move is in accordance with the direction of President Jokowi to encourage every new industrial area equipped with vocational education facilities," he explained.
According to the Minister of Industry, the scope of the MoU includes, among others, training for faculty and managers of education units and vocational training of industry, development of vocational education system quality, provision of access and opportunities for industrial apprentices for lecturers and students, curriculum development cooperation, expert assistance and the development of qualification standards.
As the implementation of the MoU, the Minister of Industry said that as many as 25 principals and teachers from Vocational School (SMK) from Indonesia have attended leadership training at Singapore ITE Campus.
Participants consisted of productive teachers in the field of machinery, electrical power plant utilization techniques and industrial automation techniques.
"They are from SMK in Aceh province, North Sumatera, West Sumatera, Riau, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta and East Java," Airlangga said.
