INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for the Ministry of Marine Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan admired the design of West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati.

"I honestly see the airport is proud because this is an airport designed by Indonesian people," he said in a press release here on Thursday (24/5/2018)

Luhut escorted President Jokowi in the inaugural landing at the airport, in Majalengka on Thursday.

He also appreciated the construction work of the airport which he said is quite neat.

"The work is pretty neat. This is in Indonesia, this may be one of the therapies. And most importantly, it will make better economic growth in this region. There will be Aerocity, yesterday I saw in India only 1,500 hectares, here 3,200 hectares, so it will be good, "he said.

The former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs said there are several reasons for the airport to be better, one of which is with the support of Bandung Toll Road which is in the process of completing land acquisition.

"Next year is expected to be completed," he said.

The second reason, the citizens of Cirebon now accommodated with the new airport so that no need to Jakarta first.

The last reason, the support of Port Patimban which will become the center of import export of four-wheeled vehicles.

"Later there will also be industrial park of Bekasi, Karawang, Purwakarta which distance about 100 km through toll," he said.

Furthermore, Luhut revealed that Kertajati Airport is expected to boost economic growth in the next five years to above 8 percent.

"This area is very rich, just not integrated yet, now we make 'integrated' so that 'cost' will come down here, tourism industry can be turned on, people come to where see in Cirebon there is shrimp and rattan there, there Patimban so good and so on, "he said.
